Why 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@?

I came from a small town, and I was moving out of state, so I was looking for a campus that was smaller and had a tight-knit community. 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@ ended up being the perfect fit for me because moving away from home felt overwhelming and scary, but 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@ provided so many opportunities I wouldn't have taken if I were at a larger state school. 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@ also provided four years of Chinese language at the time, which was a personal desire of mine.

Are you where you thought you'd be when you first came to campus?

I had no grand expectations as a freshman, and I didn't know what to anticipate from 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@. However, I am happily surprised with how involved I am on campus, being on the exec board of two clubs, and landing a job during my senior year. I can't believe how far I have come, and I really wouldn't have broken out of my shell if it weren't for the community here at 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@.

Who helped you get to where you are now?

I really have to thank my family, close friends, professors and work supervisors for all they did for me throughout the years. When things got tough or my circumstances seemed hopeless, they picked me up and encouraged me to keep going. I truly wouldn't have gotten so far without their immense support.

I will deeply miss the community I built at 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@, and I am super sad to leave. However, the experiences at 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@ prepared me to move forward with confidence and courage. 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@'s community and the friends I made here will forever have a place in my heart.

Peak experience?

Some of the most memorable and rewarding experiences came from my participation in UNYK Multicultural Dance Troupe, which is a dance club at 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@. I have danced for most of my life, but UNYK gave me more than just a dance outlet. I made most of my friends and even met my roommates through UNYK. I am so proud of all the dances I've choreographed and organized, and I am so proud of all the dancers in that group. I wouldn't trade those experiences for anything.

What surprised you?

As I mentioned before, I am really surprised at how involved I became on campus. I worked at Gus' Snack Bar for all four years, and I even ended up becoming student supervisor for a period. I also joined two executive boards for clubs, and I had never seen myself in leadership positions before these experiences.

How did you use your Augie Choice?

I ended up traveling to China on a J-term study abroad for about three weeks. We traveled to Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Xi'an and Beijing, and they were immensely rewarding experiences. I had traveled to China in 2016, but I always wanted to visit China again, especially after studying Chinese.

What will you miss the most?

I will sincerely miss the community at 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@. I spent four years establishing a sense of normalcy and routine here, and it really felt like I knew someone everywhere I went on campus. I felt like it was one big family, and now that I'm a senior, I hate to see it all go.

Advice for the Class of 2029?

"Anna made the most of all that 365体育投注_365体育备用网址@ has to offer. She pursued higher education as a preparation for career and as a preparation for life. As a senior, she participated in faculty-led study abroad, presented original research at an academic conference, participated in extracurriculars and excelled in her classes. From the halls of Old Main to the streets of Beijing, I feel lucky to have walked alongside her for parts of her journey."
